Hey guys I wanted to do my own oil change, my car is calling for it. I just wanted to know if there was any DIY, since I couldn't find one when I searched. I know the oil is something like 5W-30 or some sort, but idk which brand is the best. Also I would like to know if I would need anything else, I know an oil filter is required but idk the model number or what it looks like. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

for N52 engine, with filter change, engine oil capacity is 6.9 QTs. Use synthetic oil. I use Mobil 1 0W-40. I change oil every 7K miles or so when it is convenient for me. I don't wait for the service indicator.

Synthetic oil is a must. BMW recommends Castrol (even says so on the filler cap under the hood).

@Da_Meister_22 I'm in the same place. I wanna know all these too. And the indicator asks for brake fluid change as well....you know what...I couldn't make sure which one is the brake fluid gasket. Is it the one on the right side of engine?

Not brake gasket...I meant somewhere to store brake fluid...I couldn't locate the brake fluid container...08 is different from all earlier ones.
