Anyone know of a way of resetting the oil interval change setting from the BMW default of 15k or their demand based service interval to what you want it to be? Want to have the car remind me of when 7500k arrives instead of putting sticky notes on the windshield. Car's a 2008 528

I use my State Inspection in the service menu. There you can set your own date, but you would have to guesstimate your mileage and forecast a date. It's not precise, but you should be able to get pretty close.

I just change it when the service interval hits 7500 until oil change is due. Might not equate to 7500 acutal miles depending on how you drive (city vs highway) but it is pretty close.

Thanx for the responses. Amazing that a vehicle with the sophisticated I-drive system is incapable of being modified to user specs. Guess it goes with the same engineering mentality that deleted the oil dip stick.

Tonyb thats a great idea.
ntocamping, the service reminders that are set to a certain mileage are mileage based so I am pretty sure 7500 miles is 7500 miles.

Well, the inspection service is a good reminder and you can change the date. You just have to think ahead and imagince when you will be about half way. Mine is bugging the crap out of me right now!!!

On my E60, I change when the oil service reminder has a balance of 7,000 miles. Actual oil change interval mileage computed to:
My E90 is used for local in town trips. When I reset the oil service reminder, it shows 12,000 miles instead of 15,000 miles. It is driven for about 6,000 miles per year, so the E90 gets an annual oil change, not based on mileage.

Even with coding I don't believe you can change the 15,000 mile oil change interval. This is too bad because 15K is way too long.
