All good information. I'm coming up on my first oil change and I'm in agreement with the more frequent interval as stated above. My question is, will the dealership perform a warranty oil change before the idrive gives its service indicator? Or do I need to wait until the idrive tells me to change the oil to have it changed under warranty?

Thanks!

The dealer will not change it earlier than the CBS signals it needs to be done for free under the warranty maintenance plan (you can pay for it of course and they will be happy to do it but they typically charge way too much).

While under warranty, 5K miles after they do it, you should either do it yourself or have it done elsewhere much cheaper than what the dealer would charge you. Then just wait until the CBS on the iDrive tells you it needs to be done and take it to the dealer to be done for free. You are slipping an extra oil change in between each one they do.

You probably don't have too much longer until your warranty expires and then you can skip the dealer and just do it every 5K miles.

Yes, that is exactly what I was curious about and figured I would have to wait to have it changed under warranty. I am close on my warranty expiring, so I'll just look to do it myself and keep it on a 6000 mi change schedule.

Thanks for the info!

I got raped by the dealer, they charged me $40 CDN for the filter... So for next time where can I get a oil filter for cheaper and do you guys know how to reset the oil interval service?

Thanks
I get all my parts usually from pelican, even with shipping to Canada is worth is especially if you keep your orders below $100.
