I dunno.
Maybe there were reports about some problems during production, just while your car was built and now they want to check if your car is affected.
Optics, that can be the optic of the car, the appearance, the paint, I guess...

I suspect it it the SZL steering angle sensor as the optics are bad in it. Quick search of SZL will give you LOTs of info.

The original letter was doubless in french.
Controle in french means "check".
So "control on optics" as a translation from the french doesn't seem to give the whole story.
I know this is an english language forum but why not quote the original text too?

That's why I suspect something in the paint shop went wrong and they have found out too late. Now they let every car that was made that day, and that possibly is affected by this problem, get checked by the dealer.
Don't forget to post what this letter was about, once you have been at the dealer for the check.

Well in UK "optics" are used to dispense alcoholic sprits in bars.
I think we need to stop guessing.

The actual french phrase is "controle des corps optiques" which I tried to translate as follows: "check the optic bodies"; My best guess was the headlights...
I'll call dealer first thing on Monday, and sure I'll let you know.
A bient?t !!!!
