Hi All:

Thanks for the PMs I found. In the imortal words of The Terminator, I'll be back. I'll have some new car news. But, don't get too excited. It's really mundane. I've missed the forum, but I run hot and cold on things. I have been posting a great deal on some Windows Vista forums.

We're on vacation again. In Salzburg now. Been to Vienna, Prague (and other places in CZ).

Cya soon.

Z

Hi Z,

Out of topic, but glad you're Ok!!

Haven't seen any posts of yours for the last like 1,5 years, so I was worried about what happened to you...

Have fun!! All the best

Welcome back Don.I am glad to here all is well with you.If you don't already know,I traded my 545 for a 550I.Pretty much the same equipment as the 545.I just can't seem to justify the sports package for my needs.I have about 2000 miles on it and have already done a few tests. So far a best of 4.83 for the 0-60.Still not as fast as my 545,but maybe with more miles it will get faster.I think I had over 20000 miles on the 545 before I got the best times.Nevertheless I love the LCI.I think they fine tuned some of the features from the 545 and best of all the new step is a big improvement over the one in my 545.

Update us on what you have been doing with yourself. We all wondered where you have been.

Hi Gman. I'm glad to hear about your car. I am sure you are enjoying it. Interesting about it not being as fast (yet) as the old one. Our leases are almost up. We decided to "get by" with just two cars for a while. We ordered a burgundy (don't know the exact name of the color right now) 335i sedan. I still have the Z06. I'm always thinking about getting something else, but I never can think of anything reasonably priced that I'd rather have. Our "strategy" on the 335i is that the next version of the 5 series should be out about the time our two year lease is up. At that point, we'll look at the world, gas prices, etc., etc. and decide how to move forward. I plan to do either a 3.73 rear or a supercharger on the Z06. But, I have planned to do the rear for a long time. I have trouble getting motivated since the car is really fast the way it is. Best to you. CU soon on board.

Grogan545;
What are the details on your 4.83 run? Your launch technique, etc? Have you done any 1/4 mile runs?
If I missed a thread, just point me to it.

Absolutely! Don't have the E60 anymore, but otherwise all is well.

Look forward to your next visit!

I posted on May 20 under title"acceleration comparison 545/550"I launched with DTC/DST not disabled, brake torque to 1000 rpms, release brake and push gas to the floor.I try for no wheelspin.I tried many different launch methods in my 545,and the best times were with zero wheelspin. No 1/4 mile runs with the 550 yet,but I did run the 545 at the drag strip.Best time of 13.64 at 103.22.

Thanks. I was on a business trip for a week and didn't get on the forum for days. That thread must have slipped below the first page or so.

I'll have to do some "testing" with DSC/DTC full off and see what happens. My M5 could melt the tires with a 1600 RPM launch.
I have gotten a nice squawk from the tires on a hard launch but haven't tried to toast them.

FYI, I have 8500 miles on my550i and it does seem to be getting stronger.
