Picked up the car, the tech informed me that he has one installed in his wife's car an the interface functions the same way.

the cd1 represents the playlists (though not displayed as "playlist"), the cd2=artists and so on.

So once you go to cd1, cd2..... you acess the files by going into the "root" with in the cd1 - cd6.

The tech informs me that the best way to utilize the features of the ipod interface is to create a playlist for the ipod interface, just as everyone had mentioned in the forum but i just failed to understand.

I think that BMW could have done a better job on this interface, sort of shoddy, because when I think of BWM products I think of "perfection", and this interface is no where near perfection more of a YUGO part to me!

In the future even if the accessory is a BMW OEM, much research will go into the product before I make the purchase, I will not make the purchase decision based solely on "BMW OEM".

As you can tell I am still a bit disappointed!

Thank you all once again for you input and help.

This is correct. CD 1 is playlists, CD2 artists. But you had said nothing showed up in CD2 etc. You should see your normal playlists in CD1. In CD5 (I think), you get podcasts. Incidentally, podcasts works far better in the retrofit kit than in the 6FL factory option.

I suggest you read my article in the August 2006 issue of the Roundel magazine. It shows exactly what you should see and get. Incl. Podcasts.

Can you point us to where we can find that article? The BMW CCA website seems to only go back to 2007 back issues.

Thanks

You seem to be very knowledgeable on this whole iPod topic, so maybe you or anyone else can answer this for me. I installed the iPod integ. kit about 8 months ago and got an iPod touch (first generation). everything worked perfectly fine, songs will start and pick up exactly from where I left, until I upgraded the software on my iPod from 1.1.5 to 2.2 and now when I turn the car off for more than a few minutes and start back up, the same song that i was listening to will play again but will start over from the beginning. Frustrating and I can't seem to find a solution. I posted for this before and got no answers. any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
