OEM ipod interface limited functions
#11
The dealer called me this morning to let me know the car is ready, and apparently they got the interface to work properly, I'll let you know what I find out, thank you all for your help in advance.
P.S to all of you thinking to get the ipod integration, from what I have discovered because of this ipod interface issue, I think Denison gateway 500 is the way to go, I'm not impressed with oem interface.

I had my iPod adapter installed today (I have a 2nd generation iPod Touch), and it does EXACTLY what the OP is describing. I have no clue what the fix is.
Also, I have to remove the iPod to recharge the battery... This seems to be more of an Apple software issue than a BMW issue. Still, I was a bit shocked when I was told this.
Anyway, my first hour with iPod integration was not rosey. I have over 1400 songs in my iPod, and scrolling through each song in alphabetical order is teh sux0r.
Back to the service department I guess.

N.B. BMW dealers won't code the car for a non-BMW device (i.e. the Dension or other non-BMW device), so if your car isn't already coded for the CD changer, you won't be able to get the third party device to work properly and BMW workshops won't support such efforts.

You can find complete details about how this is supposed to work in my August 2006 article in the Roundel (page 86).

patrick, you will need to update the ipod firmware.
1. Go to Apple Store
2. Go to BMW
3. Go skiing

Sounds like a plan. I have also been having some issues with the iPod dropping the WLAN network when inside the house. Perhaps I can get everything fixed tomorrow (road trip coming this weekend).
