the funny part is that each of the listed oil cost around $ 7.50 a quart yet BMW synthetic oil only cost $ 6.50, at least for my area. May be I should just go with the BMW oil to avoid all these confusion and save myself few bucks while I'm at it.

The reason I'm sticking with BMW synthetic oil, and I earn goodwill at the BMW Center.

$6.25 a qt here for BMW oil, but yes, I'm probably sticking with it for the simplicity and relative inexpensiveness.

Also, no small part is the fact that my lifters are practically silent now that the BMW oil is in how am I gonna have them replaced under the SIB now?

but i think you're ok with LL-01.
i believe the only difference is the LL-04 oils are a little more refined(less sulfur content) for the diesel engines.

I know I'm fine with LL-01 I was just curious as to what was available in LL-04 because I haven't seen any around at least where I live.

LL-04 is NOT suitable for gasoline engines in USA.
