I'm a non-smoker and would like to replace the ashtray with something to hold coins.

I heard that BMW makes an "oddments tray" to replace the ashtray but have not had much luck finding one for my 2008 535i.

The dealer ways the non-smokers package comes with a plastic insert in lieu of the ashtray, but that it doesn't have a coin holder; it is just a box. It's $17.

Does anyone know exactly what this non-smokers ashtray replacement looks like? Is it worth getting? Or is there some other coin holder I can purchase that fits into the ashtray?

You lose the 12V socket with the new tray. Not worth it IMHO.

I just pulled my ashtray out leaving a small box that hold my coins. No big deal. Still have the cigar lighter outlet.

Hmm... go figure, I didn't even try pulling out the ashtray to see what is left behind. I assumed it would be empty space.
