This is truly a very sad day. Not only has the stock market taken another nose dive today but for the first time since I started giving you my version of the BMW sales reports over 10 years ago BMW of North America has chosen to not give us the sales figures for each individual model. I can only hope this failure is some temporary problem that will be solved quickly. The Bottom Line: The BMW Group Sales Report is all you are going to see until BMW of North America gives us the info we all want.
Maybe it?s a good time now for me to stop producing my sales reports. Anybody want to take up the task? Send me an e-mail at fred@meloan.org if you are interested.
October has been another great month for BMW in the United States. BMW Group vehicle sales reached 26,821 units this month which was a 9.6% increase from the 24,464 units sold last October. The YTD sales total of 275,094 for the first 10 months of 2006 was also up 8.2% from the 254,297 sold during the same 10 months of 2005.
Sales of the X Series were up 30.1% on the strength of sales of the new X5 while car sales were up 9.3% based on strong 3 & 5 Series sales.
Sales of the BMW brand were up 12.6% this month when compared to last October.
The Mercedes-Benz sales total of 22,820 units this month was the best October on record for MB in the U.S. and was a 10.8% improvement over the total of 20,598 units sold last October. The new C Class is responsible for this result with October sales of 7,646 units vs. only 3,784 units sold in October, 2006. YTD 2007 sales for MB are also up some 2.8% thanks to the new C Class which was first available in August, 2007.
Lexus sold 25,119 units this October, up only 4.6% over the 24,006 sold last October. Lexus YTD sales for the 10 months of 2007 were up 4.4%.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.

Thanks for showing us the data ... even limited as it is.
Here's some relevant YTD sales figures for other models within the E60 segment:
Lexus ES-Series 68,690 (+13.8% over 2006)
BMW 5 Series 42,837 (-1.2%)
MB E-Class 38,360 (+0.5%)
Lexus GS-Series 18,597 (-20.0%)
Infiniti M 17,949 (-16.4%)
Audi A6 9,699 (-31.7%)
Acura RL 5,284 (-47.7%)
And some other interesting trends:
BMW 6 series is outselling the MB CLS this year so far, by 7,422 (-3.4% YTD) to 6,563 (-27.2%).
The MB C-Class sold this month like beer in Munich in October (7,646 units +94.3% over last October), but still can't catch the BMW 3er (11,410 units in Oct. +15.4%)
The BMW X5 is a hit (2,736 units +75.2% over last October).
And the new Cadillac CTS is flying out the door (6,586 units 74.5% over last October).
The now ancient Toyota Prius still sells like water (13,158 units 44.9% over last October).

In EU the first three Q's sales are up 4,9 % when the car market average is up only 0,9.
Last year the turnover was 49 billion Euro (x 1,45 for USD) and the investments where
4,3 billion Euros.
