October has been a good month for our family if not for BMW NA. This month?s sales reports are late because we have just returned from two weeks touring in the U.K. More importantly our younger son has safely completed his second tour in Iraq and just been promoted early to the rank of Captain in the USMC. Semper Fi!
October BMW Group vehicle sales reached 24,464 units this month which was still a 4.6% decrease from the 25,635 units sold last October. The YTD sales total of 254,297 for the first 10 months of 2006 was up a mere 1.2% from the 251,276 sold during the same 10 months of 2005.
Sales of the X Series were down 5.3% this month while BMW car sales were down 7.5% when compared to last October.
Sales of the BMW brand were down 7.2% this month when compared to last October.
The Mercedes-Benz sales total of 20,598 units this month was a new October high for MB and was a 12.3% over the total of 18,349 units sold last October. YTD 2006 sales for MB are also up some 13.2% thanks to an 84.5% increase in sales for the MB ?truck? line. The leap in MB truck sales is due to the introduction of the R Class in September, 2005 and the GL Class this past April.
Lexus sold 24,006 units this October, up only 2.9% over the 23,331 sold last October. Lexus YTD sales for the 10 months of 2006 were up 6.8%.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.
