Sorry to be such a noob on this, but a question (probably a FAQ but couldn't find it) has been driving me nuts. Just what does "LCI" stand for and when did it occur? I gather it refers to an exterior updating of the E60 a couple years ago, but don't really know. If there's a thread that discussed this just link me to it and that'll be enough here.

Sorry,

Cal

An auto-close trunk lid button.

The E60 trunk lid is a tough one to close and, usually, your arms are full of goods ... which means you have to set everything down while you wrestle the lid closed.
+1, yep, the key fob to flip the lid is great if you've got your hand's full, but they didn't seem to remember that when you get back out the car and empty the boot, your hand's will be full again and you need to be able to close with a button. The tourer has this, and if I'd bought a tourer I definately would have had that option.

Have to say, I don't mind turning the wipers onto automatic although sometimes I've wondered why they weren't "fully" automatic, but the car wash scenario may be the reason (although I'd never put mine through a car wash)

Other things... The car remembers quite a lot of settings dependent on the key in use which is great as my wife and I both drive the car, however. Getting the seats to move to their position dependent on key I believe has to be configured by the dealer, as does the option to have the power mirrors fold when locking. Why since most other things are configured by iDrive can't these be added?

Also, the setting for the active seat bolsters (and also the auto wipers I think) isn't remembered per key and more annoyingly is automatically turned off after you get out of the car although interestingly they stay on if you get back in within 15 minutes or so!

That said, I think my E60 is *almost* perfect, I've been very please with it in my 4 months of ownership.

I would like an engine temperature gauge. I like to treat the engine gently when cold so I would find this useful.

regards,
+1. I'm no Luddite, but those lines around the tach just aren't the same as a discrete analog gauge. I always drive slowly on a cold engine, but still. Imagine if they took the numbers off the tach and just used little floating "sticks" or some other nebulous electronic system to suggest when to shift.
