Nothing new to people living in the south east....
Alabama has signs stating "waring Aircraft used in Law enforcement" with lines painted across the highway in intervals to pace from Helos or Planes. It big in FLA and GA too. I got my only speeding ticket going down hill doing "85" in a 70 from a Plane... They pulled over 9 cars and 2 semis at the same time ( I was getting passed by a Semi at the time of pacing). That was 15 years ago.

Car and Drive ran a story about the Ohio St patrol using planes about 3 years ago ...

The fastest I have gone in my 5 was 125 on an empty spot on a freeway. I can't imagine hitting 168.

Ya 168 must be crazy. I pretty much take any car I own to around 120-130. I have never had a car that could go faster (due to computer limit). I even took my old 1985 toyota pickup (turbo) to 120'ish. The steering wheel was kinda shaky. Now with the E60 it felt smooth and not so scary. =)

No, he was with us when I panicked at what I thought was a cop road block on that back road. I have to remember to not store the bodies in my trunk anymore. Phew!

168 in an M5 is no big deal, the car can handle it and then some. Speed restrictions, crappy highways and slow drivers who think they own the left lane are the problem. This is why I will never own an M unless I move back to Germany.

That is a depressing story indeed. I love that bridge. The reality is that if you chose tp drive at those kinds of 150 mph speeds on public roads, you do so knowing full well that if caught, you'll be arrested and your license revoked or suspended for a long period of time. That's why I have never driven that fast. If I was in Germany, I certainly would when conditions permitted it.
