I drive is technically not covered, but if you argue that you can't control your heating and A/C selections without the i-drive then it should be covered.

That's a great tip, thanks. I just got off the phone with BMWNA, and of course they want the dealer to check it out first.

Got an appointment with the dealer on Saturday, already printed pages and pages of info from this and other forums - including no less than 20 PUMA cases. What did surprise me was that Rudy seems to be on every BMW forum around

Thanks Bro, me too, trust me. It seems to work fine every morning, but when I stop to get my coffee it stops working and won't come back until the next morning.

question: do you have the factory CD changer? mine acts weird sometimes if I leave the changer playing when I turn it off. No problems when I'm using the dension. the cd changer can screw up the boot process.

Nope, no CD changer, no Denison, and no iPod connection (although the iPod connection is next on my to do list). It's weird, yesterday I was driving home from work and it wasn't working, then it started working for a couple of minutes, then cut out again. I disconnected the battery for a good hour and reconnected it - no change.

Bummer that the new battery didn't solve the issue...

Good luck at the dealers, hope it'll be an easy fix!

Any news?

My only guess, and it's a long-shot, is to see if the MPM is failing (assuming your 2005 car still has the MPM below the spare tire well -- I forget when they changed it.)

Thanks Rudy, but the car went to the dealer yesterday. They said they cleared "3 pages" of fault codes and it's working better. However, they did say that I will need a new CCC and it probably won;t be covered under the CPO. Any suggestions on talking to BMWNA?
