I love it here, Colorado has some of the most beautiful views....however.... I moved up on the side of the Mountain and the other night Im coming home from a friends house about 10pm. Well long story short rear wheel drive did not agree with getting up the mountain...so me, my gf, and my son hiked it 1/4 of a mile in the snow home. I felt like we were on the Oregon Trail!!! I had to calm myself the next day....(or else it Id be on a LandRover forum).

i live in SLT and the first thing i did was trade the BMW for a 4x4
haha, im saving cash for an M3, but its going to be a summer time driver only! the worst part of owning a BMW in the snow is the filth that accumulates on it just taking it to the store and back
it would get so dirty it would actually make me sad, nothing that beautiful should be that dirty!

that's why i rent SUV when going to ski. Never tried it, but it's scary to take rear drive car with sport suspension to snow hills. One of my friend took his mustang once and it was a disaster. We helped push his car out of snow several times. Always wondered how people in Colorado - and other places like that drive

I miss most everything about CO. Not that.
If you don't have snow tires already, that is an absolute must if you are going to drive the rear wheel BMW in the winter.
I live in Fort Collins. I opted for the Blizzak lm60 which balances snow traction and dry traction since most winters we don't see that much snow.
Welcome to the area. I absolutely love it out here!

I'd like to point out that BMWs are made by Germans and are driven regularly in Germany in snowy conditions. You really need to take off the summer tires in snowy climates or else you'll be known as a "pedestrian." Never had any problems in snow with either a RWD or AWD BMW and we get plenty of snow up here (except for this year).

I just spent 3 days in Aspen where we got about 26" of fresh powder. The 535 was unstoppable on the snow-packed streets of Aspen. Welcome to Colorado!

Really man - relax, I grew up in Denver, had a GF in Evergreen when I was in HS, and I was driving a 72 Monte Carlo!!!! Talk about poor winter road performance, try going up a dirt driveway in 18" of snow with a RWD car with a 427 under the hood, LOL you get used to it - trust me
