Exclamation noticable rough idle at start-up and when stopped,

04 530i --- at start up after engine settles to 600 rpm idle there is a very noticable vibration as well as when stopped (i.e.; traffic light)
there is also a slight vibration when accelerating which dissipates when you "take your foot off the gas"

This all goes away after a bit of driving and does not happen throughout the day after car is "warmed up"

Coils, 02 sensors ?? not sure what problem is

any help appreciated and apologies if this has already been discussed

I put new plugs in a 323i with N52 that cured a random idle 'hiccup'. It also had an oil leak on two cylinders. How old are your plugs?

I would definitely check the plugs.

Last week I got into my car and it was running rough but when I accelerated it was okay

The next morning the same thing but I couldn't drive it

The funny thing was that I had no fault codes

I was thinking at first a plug or coil but no
Then a fuel pump or filter but no

It ended up being the "mass air flow sensor"

Luckily I had a spare and the car has been fine ever since

thanks --- it's still there. You can hear a slight hum type noise in the cabin , rough idle may not be best description as the enginw itself seems to run fine and idles at 600 rpm ------ there is just something almost like a rubbing (hard to describe) if I am in drive at a stop I can depress brake and gas it up to 800 rpms or so the vibration goes away pretty stumped and don't really wnat to fork out $ to find out it may be a simple thing
