Stream,
I also have a 05 545i but I do not have a 12v outlet under the dash to the left of the glove box. Was this an option or part of a package? Did you self install? Or... Am I just blind and can not see it?

I believe that all US-spec E60s have had five 12-volt outlets from the start.? Two in the front (one in the ashtray, one low in the passenger-side footwell), two at the rear of the center console, and one in the trunk as described.

There is one in the ashtray and one uner the glove compartment. The one under the glove compartment is a bit of a challenge to find. But it is there!!!!!

I was quite surprised to find a 12 volt socket in the trunk of my 530xi. It is located centrally on the opposite sidewall of the reg.plate. It was "hidden" behind a small security cap.
This was not mentioned in the specs of the car? Is it standard?
Very bizarre. The US brochure does state that there's an outlet in the passenger's footwell. The Canadian brochure is silent on this topic (http://www.bmw.ca/automobiles/brochu...chure_2006.pdf)-- and I'm quite sure my car doesn't have one in in the passenger's footwell.
I'd be interested if any non US cars have this.

My Ride: UK 2005 530d E61
I certainly can't find the 12v outlet under the glove box on my Apr '05 UK E61. It would be very useful there as I tend to put my phone in the net in the passenger footwell (no RAZR cradle )
Maybe it is very well hidden - it's kinda dark under there

Sorry, maybe slightly off topic but I see guys that most of you do not plug in your handys for loading at the rear of the centre console. I wonder why as for me it seems to be the most convenient place?
