Check out the pic of the 2008 535i below. Very similar to the car that I just ordered; however, the US version does not have the silver (alum?) trim bar in the lower front grill that (IMO) ties together the fog lights and splits the lower grille nicely. In all the US pics, it's not there (or just black) yet in the non-US pics it's there...can a non-US 535i owner verify for me that their trim bar is alum. or at least not black? If this is the case then I can most likely order that bar from the dealer.

I would think you could order it and install the part. Installation may not be as easy but this is like back in the 2004 an other early models where the the Euro-spec cars (and other parts of the world) got the red reflectors in the rear bumper but the US didn't. They are now standard. Many here ordered the red reflectors and replaced the cheap looking inserts that were part of US spec...

I'm thinking you are correct in that I can probably order this part through the dealer. By the way, the rear Euro spec reflectors are still left off the '08's - just that the inserts are painted body color now. I'll probably end up ordering the Euro spec reflectors too - can't have too much visibility (especially in LA rush hour traffic after dark).

Mods so far:
1) Sprint Booster
2) CDV valve delete
3) Euro spec reflectors and lower grill bar (if I can get it)
4) SSK (or other) short throw shifter linkage (more research needed)
5) Considering tune from Zeckhausen Racing (more research needed)

Jet - that's the silver bar I'm talking about ...but that can't be a US spec as one of the other cars in the pic (same dealer) is a "530 d"...don't think we can get the diesel here yet? Must be a Euro dealer?

Maybe I'm confused but every LCI car I've seen at the dealer (except for ones with the M-sport packcage like the 550i) have the silver bar you're talking about...

Well, nevermind! When you use the BMW NA website to configure a car , it does not show a silver bar on the front end. But then we all know the BMW website to be a bit behind reality...

yes it can be a us car! i said look at the..."1st pic w/ square license plate and amber relectors must be us spec"
ignore the other pics....i think its clear that they are NOT from the same dealer. the admin compiled a bunch of random pics to show off the same color.
from the details such as license plate shape, diesel models, etc - i'll bet the other pics are not from the same place as the 1st pic...

US E60 LCI's with the standard bumper already have this silver trim bar, the only ones that don't are the ones with the M Aero kit (550i M-Sport) and the M5.
