Not the Best MPG
Guys,
I'm looking for a bit of insight. I have an 05 520d and on long motorway runs at various trial speeds (50, 55, 60, 65, 70) I can achieve an MPG of 50 at best (this is accurate as I've altered the offset in the menu) this doesn't seem all that great. I have also used the hidden menu to check engine temperature and the highest it reached was 84 degrees but this was only for a short period of time before dropping back into the high 70s. Along with tyre pressures, which are all fine, brakes seized on. I can't think of much else that will effect efficiency that I can check.
Any ideas as my guess would be engine temperature.
Cheers

Also, is anyone selling a diversity amplifier, i'm sick of having to be sat on the roof to unlock the car.
50MPG isn't bad at all, it just seems capable of doing so much more for some reason. I don't know whether i'm thinking that cos I think the thermostat is faulty or i'm just hoping.

For you yanks, you should remember that our English friend is quoting in Imperial gallons not US. That makes his mileage closer to 40 miles per US gallon, which I think is about right for his car.

It's still great in my book! I have a 530i with 255 HP and keep getting 19 MPG; since the car had 4 miles on it.
