Sorry, to me it simply looks like 172s that need a good cleaning from brake dust.

 

Nice looking wheels. Call me a traditionalist but I think I like the OEM finish for the 172s.

 

I agree, on your car they add contrast when they are OEm Silver, but on my car that is silver already? They look, well, dull. There needs to be some contrast to set them off properly. That is why PC'ing makes sense (for me at least)

 

Yes I do not think powercoated 172s would go with my color because it is not really black but very dark blue. Powder coated wheels do look good with a Jet or Sapphire Black exterior IMHO.

I buy an alignment anytime I buy new tires. cheap ins. Also, an annual alignment is good preventive maint. Once tires develop a wear pattern, the wear pattern is not reversible. In other words, the tire will continue to wear even more in the affected area.

Life is tough.

 

Leased a 2007 530i for 3 years and BMW put 2 new sets of Dunlop tires on the car, under warranty, due to excessive wear........
Turned the car in in Oct 2009, had the 3rd set, with 34k miles,of which 7K was on the 3rd set.

 

I run 34 psi front and 38 rear and have not only had amazingly good mileage on my tires but great handling and gas mileage as well. Stay +1/-1 from that and I really don't think you can go wrong.

I'm running 245/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear.

 

My '08 535i with 37K miles, OEM Dunlop SP01 runflats...95% highway...has the exact same wear pattern on the rears. I am having new Michelin PS2 A/S mounted this week. I can't wait to see how much better the car will ride with the new tires. It is a crime for the factory to have put those shitty runflats tires on a 5-series BMW. :thumbsdown: I've had to wait 37K miles before actually "getting the car that I paid for".

Oh...and I have run 34 in the front and 38 in the rear since new...keep the pressure checked weekly...AND had an alignment at about 20K miles...I take care of my tires. I think it is definitely the result of a crappy tire.

 

An alignment will do the trick, mine wore like that too. Even after my new tires, i didn't have enough grip until i did an alignment. Afterwards, the car felt much more stable and better at taking corners.
