I was changing out my summers today and discovered the rear tires are shot!
Is this an issue with the manufactory (Dunlop), an issue with the run flat tires, an issue with my e60 545 or is this normal?
As you can see, this issue issue is only with rear tires, and the wear is only on the inside of both tires ...

Good lord. My OEM non-RFT rear summer Contis wore evenly and I wore them down a lot. I wonder if you have an alignment problem.

They are really shot!! Not unusual for BMW independent rear suspensions to wear tires on the inside like yours. I also suspect your tire pressures were lower than recommended. They certainly ran to the cords and you're lucky they didn't blow out! My recommendation is you inspect your tires more frequently - across the entire tread width and monitor your tire pressures monthly

Due to the aggressive stance of the BMW, especially those
with the staggered tire set-up, the tire normally wears out
more on the inside. Looks like you should have been checking
your tires more often tho.
But as some suggested, it doesn't hurt to ensure that your
car has been properly aligned and inflated to the right PSI.

Most of my driving was highway ... heading to the golf course with 3 or 4 guys / clubs in the car.
I did check the pressure monthly, 32 psi, perhaps that's not current.
These tires had 35,000 km's on them.
