I was out on Sunday in Stamford, Lincs and spotted a 525i sport in silver grey. I nearly passed out as this is the first? non carbon sport that I have seen "on the road". Does it belong to anyone on this board? I was beginning to think that BMW GB must only be accepting sport orders in carbon black.

There was a mystic blue 530i parked behind it with my sapphire black 530d across the street. It felt like an impromptu meet but without the owners in attendance?

I went to dealers today and saw a Carbon sport next to a Silver Grey one and the latter was sold. I have ordered silver grey. it was the first one I saw and loved it. D on't be fooled by shine of black one in showroom, in reality it will always look grey and brown even after 10 miles - happy cleaning!

See, My M3 is Carbonblack, and I love it, so I have the right to choose carbon

High Gloss Shadow Line is well worth the ?135 in my opinion - It looks superb.

I really want to see a *green* sport - it was the only colour that tempted me (away from..... Carbon :-) ) but I just couldn't visualise it :-(

This one is dark green ( but looks a little black in pics)

I think Carbon will keep it's popularity, when I ordered my car I was going to order Silver Grey (my last car an M3 was Carbon) until I walked in the dealers and saw five new cars in Silver Grey. I agree that lighter colours do show off the sport kit better but I also think Carbon suits the E60 really well, helps hide some of the more controversial aspects of the styling, makes the car look sleaker.

BMW are desperately in need of some new colours, I think the one series has a couple of nice one's. The M5 has a very limited selection...Carbon isn't available!

David, I think Carbon Black is available on the M5, but only via the BMW Individual program. But I agree that they still need a better color panel.
* Another Question, Im not really sure what carbon black looks like, I saw an E39 M5 in a showroom the other day, it was carbon black, under bright light it looks like a deep dark blue/purple.... nice color. It that the same color im talking about?...

cheers

E60Speed,

I posted those pics way back last summer before any official info was available about the sport models. The car in the photo is Carbon black I can assure you, not green as you think. I have the original pics.

I live in the UK. This is my mystic blue sport model. It REALLY REALLY looks very sporty on the UK roads. Added the 124 wheels to add extra beef at the back. Now considering buying the 172 wheels for that 19" look.

Also considering getting the front grille done in mystic blue as well to make it look even more aggresive.

I love the look of the car.

I've been on this board long enough to know that not everyone is a fan of mystic blue, so be gentle on me.

Nomad,

Doing this would be a crime of incredible bad taste Get the chrome edged grilles from the 545. They make a world of difference to the look of the car. Mystic wouldn't be my choice as I'm not a fan of blue but I've seen a 530d sport in this colour and it did look good. The colou suits the sport models way better than the SE in the mostly cloudy UK. I'm sure ystic looks sharp in some of the sun drenched US states.
