My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.

This is a rather common problem. BMW response seems to be a special flush if the car is under warranty and a steering rack replacement, if the car is out of warranty. Sucks, but we have to deal with it.

So V, did you check the level of your fluid? It's located top left of the engine bay.

Any chance for a video to get a better idea of the noise?

The dealer did not mention what they thought it could be?

After my dealer added the additive to the steering fluid, the noise remained for a few days (maybe even a week or two) before going away. It's been OK for a good few months now. Might be worth giving it a week or so.

what type of noise are you getting exactly, and from where? the additive only cures a squeeking noise, and not a whining type of noise.
