Hi, this is a bit of an experiment- apologies if it doesn't work.

I have developed a noise
Facebook Post
- it sounds like the starter motor is remaining engaged after the engine has started- I'd be grateful for the opinions of those who might be able to confirm.

Andy

I tried to upload the mp4 video, but the site wouldn't let me.

Upon listening to the sound on the video, it sounds very similar to a problem I recently had repaired on my 2004 530i (M54 engine). I had the belt and tensioner replaced per SIB # 11 04 03 - it was replaced with a hydraulic belt tensioner (compared to original mechanical belt tensioner), a new belt and a few other misc. bolts/pieces per SIB.

As I noticed and per the SIB, the condition is most relevant during cold morning starts, especially after the vehicle has sat overnight for example. I wasn't able to reproduce the noise for the dealer in person at time of official complaint but I was able to record it a few times and state my case this way.

Good luck!
