How much noise if coming from your SMG when changing gears?
Mine is definitely getting louder and now makes audible click-clack noises when changing gears, in particular between 1st and 2nd and 2nd and 3rd.

After 8 months and 8,000 miles there is no audible noise when shifting - sounds like you may have a problem.

I'm at 8 months and 11,300 miles. No noises or problems. Sound's like it's time for a dealer visit.

The only time I've ever heard any sound from the SMG is at a standstill, you can flip between 1st and 2nd. Each time you do it, you'll hear a faint (window needs to be open) click-clack sound...

My smg has way to much noise during shift changes, especially in Sport Mode. Metal to metal, almosy like a synchro problem. However I thought it was normal. In auto mode the noise is embarrasing, so I just use the manual mode. Frankly, this is my 3rd bmw and my last smg.

Only noise is when downshifting from 3 to 2 to 1. Bearable noises though

drjochen,

Did you get your car problem fixed?
I have a 645 SMG and does the same as you described.
The dealer says that it seems normal although they don't have much experience with SMG he told me.
