Picked up my COP 545i last Friday. Car is great and need to practice more for the Navi and iDrive.

Found there's noise coming from the engine after shut off. The noise was still there even after the engine cool down after hours. Any idea?

hmm sounds like metal grinding like some sorta valve or "clutch" trying to move and failing. I havnt the clue but wanted to chime in and suggest the dealership if under warranty if not take it to an indy shop.

came across something similar to your problem on another board.

don't know if i can link to another board but here goes

'08 535i strange grinding noise when engine turns off

apparently this isn't the first documented case, and a TSB has been posted regarding it.

hope this helps.

Mine has always made periodic noises when it's switched off and sitting in the garage and I recall threads here about the noises. I think they must be communicating with HQ and plotting world dominance or something.

but sorry forgot to mention, I have Auto Folding mirror in mine, and my drivers side mirror motor makes some similar noise , not as loud for a few times after closing both sides.....if you are in the US then you dont have that option so thats not a possibility.
