First of all I am new to this forum and just purchased a 05 545i with auxiliary and bmw ipod interface. I had my iphone hooked up to the
Auxiliary playing music (I prefer scrolling through my music with my iphone over the IDrive) driving home from work and made a semi-spirited right hand turn and all of my audio died. I can still scroll through the radio, cd, aux through the Idrive, but no sound is coming from the speakers. I checked the fuses (glove box and trunk) that seemed to have any relation to the radio or radio amp and all were fine. I then pulled out my CCC to see if any loose wires and it look'd fine. I can hear the fan and navi dvd working. So I am coming to the conclusion that its a software issue. The car has an extended warranty but I just hate paying the deductible. Everything was fully functioning and by no means was the right hand turn enough to disturb any hardware.
IF anyone has any input that might be able to help me with this it will be greatly appreciated.

The same thing happened to my dad's brand new 7 series. All sound was lost, no radio, no sound from incoming/outgoing calls, no voice command prompts. It turned out to be a defective Logic7 amp, replaced under warranty.

I am thinking it shorted out since i notice that my Ipod interface was loose and when i was checking the fuses, I moved it a little and the ipod interface unit touch part of the frame around the fuses it threw a spark.

So I took it to the dealer and as I thought the Ipod Interface shorted out and since all of the sensors and systems are on a Loop system, it caused my CCC not to produce any sound and the SOS Call error to show up. Luckily my extended warranty is covering it *Whew* So new ipod interface and reprogram.
