On my e39 if I turn the car off the aux 12v outlets continue to provide power, so if I have a bluetooth device plugged in, it would charge over night. Now with my e60 the power supplied to the 12v outlets is cut once the car is off. Can this be changed in coding perhaps or otherwise?

Thanks

Not at all sure it can be changed.

It reduces the risk of battery exhaustion which would cause problems for some of the modules.

^^^ It can be changed - but you would have to rewire the positive lead from an accessory wire to one that supplies 12v constant.

What's mind-boggling to me is I cannot get any of the three accessory outlets in our LCI E60 to light up unless the engine is running. Fob in, push start without applying brake, radio, fan, et al, come on--but no accessory outlets?!

I don't think that's correct. At ACC, you should be getting power to your outlets.

+1 If car is 'on' but not running outlets work.

The lighter sockets are connected to T30. So if you push start twice they will come on even without the engine running.

^^^
Push start twice, now how could I have missed that? :slapshead: Seriously, is this in the manual somewhere?

Thanks, I'll give that a shot next time. What's "T30?"

Just be aware of what you are trying to use this outlet for as these cars seems to suck a lot of power. If you are thinking of doing this to charge a phone or another device and then to go back in the house for a while and wait, perhaps you will be able to use the cell phone that you just charged to call a friend to come over and jump start your car... A newer battery might last a while but an older one probably wound not.

I have a 545 so no push start This question was more to find a quick and easy way to keep the outlets powered like my old e39 when the car is completely off and keys not inserted.

Anyway, thanks folks, I will live with it just the way it is.

Thanks!
