Hello,

I'm fairly new to this forum. I recently ordered (and am anxiously awaiting the arrival) of a '08 550i sport. My last car was a 2001 Audi S4. I'm very excited to make the jump over to BMW.

After a few weeks of watching this forum, one thing I've noticed is that every few days someone has a "problem" with their e60. I know it's normal to have problems with cars. It's also normal to only post a thread to a forum when you encounter a "problem," in search of advice from others.

What I'm curious about, is how many people out there have had zero problems? I'm talking about a considerable amount of miles on your car and all you've had to take it in for is routine, scheduled service.

I know that I am not able to say this about my Audi. In less than 6 yrs and UNDER 45k miles, I had 3 trips to the dealer with serious vacuum/pressure problems, the clutch replaced, CV boot fixes, upper control arms replaced, battery replaced, new alternator, new coolant tank (on 2 separate occasions), oil level sensor replaced, coolant sensor replaced ... just to name a few off the top of my head.

I'd like to hear some e60 success stories! Anyone with ZERO problems?

Jack, welcome and looking forward to hearing more from you ! Aside from a dead battery the day after delivery absolutely no issues other than a really big smile on my face when driving my e60 .It's all good here !!

You called it. The negative types like to post their real and not so real issue here, the happy ones are out driving !! My sense is , buy it and drive it .... you'll love it !

Had a cup-holder problem once, does this mean I don't count?

Oh yeah... I had also had a cupholder problem in my S4. Great cupholder, but it fell apart one day... used a little super glue and it was good as new!!!!

Both you guys that have replied.... how many miles do you have on your car?

Well, mine was CPO purchased with 27k miles; at 32k miles now (5k) -- so I haven't really had much time to really give input. But comparing her to my previous E39, I'd have to say that I've had less issues with this one, so far.

I'm sure there are load of us out there with no problems whatsoever. My gut feel is that a lot of the members here use the forum much the same way I do - as an initial sounding board if we/they either think or know something is wrong. The forums have proved to be an invaluable resource in either reassuring me that things are all as they should be or in giving me sufficient information to get the potential issues resolved. All that in addition to the fact that they are tons of fun!

my car will hit 31,200 miles when I head out to lunch this afternoon and has had ZERO major problems. Of course, I am one of those people who gets annoyed by the tiniest rattle, so there are loads of posts here from me (and others like me) who just want that rattle sorted.

Im on E60 number 3. First one had a serious engine problem. Second one, no problem at all. 3rd one, squeaky brakes which were quickly replaced. Have developed a small rattle from the back somewhere but nothing serious that can't wait until it has to go in for something else.

I wouldn't worry, major problems are rare, and on the whole the dealers are excellent and will sort out any problems you do have.

Luckily I am a part of the majority (?) who encounter no problems whatsoever in their E60s
65.000km passed (around 40.000 miles) in a bit over one year and the car still drives, feels, smells and looks like new.
I love every single thing of it, although with the next one for sure I will go for more extras, gadgets and toys.. which I wish I had now..

But on the other hand, this amazing engine with its almost 800 miles range on full tank compensates it all for me....

Congrats on your great choice and Welcome!
