No car lock "beep" with upgrade

Whoops- reading hommers post shows that I was not correct about getting 24.01 and going back to 24.0 as potentially being the cause of the problem. Unfortunately, it seems like it may be specific to your car.

This has been happening to my car too. I know this is an older post, but did anyone ever get an answer to as to why this was an issue. I checked all the settings in the idrive...everything is set to flash and beep when I lock the doors. It stopped working a couple of days ago, then today it started working again (for a little while) then it stopped again.

I am new to BMW...does this (I recently had my car upgraded to CIP 24.01) mean that BMW dealers do software upgrades to fix issues? Does it cost anything to have these upgrades installed? I tried to figure it out by reading other posts but I'm stumped. HELP!
