My car is on the water headed to NJ. It has nightvision and I was planning on having the VPC add the Aero bumper. Now BMW NA is saying they can't do an Aero Kit with nightvision because the cam wont fit in the bumpers they have in stock in NJ. I have seen one members E60 in Sweden, I believe, that has this set up.
There is a square pop-out in the aero bumper that pops out to be replaced by a square fitting that accepts the cam. I have seen pictures of this 3 cent piece of plastic.
My question is, has anyone in the US been delivered with the nightvision in the Aero Bumper.
My dealer is currently appealing this decision with BMW NA and I have to have resolution before my car reaches the VPC.

Have there been ANY US shipments of NightVision E60s?
FYI, there is an article in June Popular Science that compares the MB (near-infrared light) and BMW (passive far infrared) vision assist technologies. For moving objects (deers, mooses, people), the BMW is the better solution according to the article. MB is better at detecting stationary objects such as a muffler laying on the highway. Mercedes puts pair of illuminators next to the headlights; BMWs is in the bumper. I should think the MB would better protect the units from rock chips, etc., but I am much more concerned about hitting a deer than running over a muffler.

Bummer.
That's a fine mess. You need to have the M Kit on that stunning Monaco Blue 550i - eventually.
It would be best if BMWNA can sort this out for you and have the VPC install the M Kit. Otherwise, you can easily install the M Kit here in the Chicago area anytime with all the proper pieces and parts.
I say get your car here as soon as possible, even if that means skipping the M Kit for now.

Got an update from the Sales Manager today. The US parts guy was able to get approval of my aero kit install at the NJ VPC. Seems all they need is the 2*3 inch piece of plastic with the night vision cam opening. This piece snaps into the aero bumper. Now ill bet my car sits at the VPC for a while as the part is shipped.
My dealer worked their butts off on this one and I appreciate it.
I just saw the Elektra is off the lower coast of Ireland and headed to the open seas.
