Thanks for the info, gang. I'm a little disappointed, given my 40,000 car can do what I'm asking, but that car also doesn't have an M button.

I'll consider it a fair trade.

I could turn my screen off on my 2007 5er as well, but it didn't actually go off, there was still some background light on the screen.
I've confirmed this with several people as well.

Does yours turn off completely as if the car was shut off and no light coming from the screen? Test this at nightime or in a dark garage.
