Luckily it was on my day off. Turned out to be the oil filter housing. I could spin it with my hand. Tightened it up and now its fine. Anyone heard of the oil filter housing coming loose on its own? I changed my oil 3 months ago and I know I tightened it. 04 545i.

No. I even remember trying to find the right size socket in my pile of extras to fit the housing nut. It was definitely tightened. Also its been 3 months and not a drop of oil anywhere. Then one day this huge puddle.

My oil filter leaked before but it was due to a bad seal that was letting the oil out not due to not being tight.....

I had a small oil leak about a month ago. Turned out to be the oil filter housing. Was replaced under warranty, plus a free oil change!
