My Ride: 2005 545I silver gray, black leather with anthracite maple wood, sport package, premium sound, navigation, cold weather package, head up display, Comfort Seats
Hi All,
What a great forum!
Just purchased a 2005 545I CPO silver gray, black leather with anthracite maple wood, sport package, premium sound, navigation, cold weather package, head up display, cd changer in glove box.
Does the premium sound mean I have Logic 7?
Do I need any special tools to install the iPod interface in place of my cd changer?
Thanks

iPod, had mine done at the dealer but some have done it themselves. In an older car it may require a software update which means trip to the dealer...

Dropped off my 2004 545i at the dealer this morning to have ipod interface installed. Service did say that it would require software update to complete interface. Also, is not cheap ($590 plus tax in Arizona). It did take about a month for dealer to get the part in as well. I should have car back either later today or tomorrow. I will reply again and let you know how it goes - hopefully it will be worth it. I'm not sure how somebody would be able to do this on their own if software update is required.

Most people have found if you already have the changer, the iPod adapter will work. The down side is when you take it in for service the computer throws an error code because it was not programmed and still sees the changer. I installed myself and it worked fine, but when I brought it in for an update they saw the error and charged me $100 for programming. Still cheaper than having them do the whole install.
