I have just bought a 2005 535d (Sport Touring) and have reached the point where the occasional puzzled look replaces the huge grin.

The Sat Nav DVD I have is labelled as 2007-2 - I deduce from other mails that this is the latest?

I saw a mail where someone was asking about 7 digit postcode entry, but I don't seem to have any postcode entry option - any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Is it possible that the DVD is up to date, but the software isn't?

i have this problem, i only have postcode for london only aswell, and really want the postcode for the entire country, i beleieve you have to get an updated DVD from the delaer.

Also just noticed that you also have 535d, by far the most poular chioce.

We love the Diesils.!!!

Good luck and enjoy the forums, hope you get it sorted.

Can anybody confirm 100% that there is a DVD available that gives full UK 7-character postcode entry? My wife has a new X5 and it also only does the first 4 characters or something. It's next to useless.

I would happily pay (a lot of money!!) for a new disc for the X5, and also hope that my new 535d has full UK 7-character coverage. But I don't think this is true ... my understanding was that there wasn't enough room on a DVD for all of the maps and the postcode data?

The dealer has just responded and told me that early versions didn't have postcode entry at all - and that it is not updateable with software upgrade.

Can anyone confirm that they have an '05 plate that has the professional Nav with no postcode entry, please?

As I recall that was the case with my 04 545.

Have a feeling that may have been fixed with the Sep 2005 updates. My Nov 2005 car has 4 digit postcode entry already on either the 2005-4 or 2006-1 disc, but I gather a new disc is supposed to upgrade it to 6 digit (i.e. vaguely useful, unlike now)

As I say, I have the 07.2 dvd, but the dealer is saying that software upgrade would not add postcode search ???

I had this problem. It was thought to be cured in DVD 2006-02 but turned out to be only partially cured as only certain UK postcdes would work. Having made a fuss with BMW they supplied the 2007-02 disc. This works AOK but only with up to max 5 digit postcodes. My understanding is that it would take a big rewrite/restructure of the Nav software for this problem to be solved for us UK users. I believe it all stems from the fact that BMW really only took into account the German and US markets when they developed the system. If BMW had any brains they would have done full 7 digit, this would have kept everyone happy.

It's official .... I am an idiot.

I was looking for a "search by postcode" or "enter postcode"..... what i should have done is enter the postcode instead of the town name ......D'oh !

So do you now have 7 digit postcodes or not? I'd be interested to find out to see if it's worth updating from 2007-1 to 2.

Thanks
