Just installed a new set of Dunlop's (Sport M3's) on my 2007 550. The tires have a white substance on the side walls. I tired to remove it with tire cleaner, but with no luck. Does anyone know how I can remove the substance. Thanks for your help!

Hey johnh and welcome.
It's probably a compound the tyre service companies use for the tyre to slip better on the wheel.
It should come off with any car solvent.

I just had my winter Continentals installed. It appeared as they were pressurizing the tire. It must be some sort of coating put on at the factory that seems to wear off after installation and some good hard scrubbing.

Welcome aboard johnh ... glad you joined us.
I have the Dunlop M3s on my 550 also, but all I had on the new rubber was a white dot.
Where are you from? What wheels did you mount the winter shoes on? What are your impressions of the 550 so far?
Hopefully you will find the M3s to work well for you in the snow. They've been great to have in Chicago this winter.
