Sorry to say but facts are facts

/quote]

I actually had 17 inch tires on 225/50/17 - when I use the calculator on e90post, I come up with 3% difference. The speedo at will read 62mph when I'm actually going 60 mph... however the bmw speedos are about this same amount optimistic. I can live with that. (Toyo says the tires are 26.60 inches, by the way)

If I went with the "standard" tire sizes, I would actually have a smaller overall diameter...surely this would affect my speedometer, transmission, navigation...
The standard sizes are 1% or 7mm off (too small).

Using your "facts are facts" size calculator, it comes up 3.2% difference or 21 mm difference so you must be using the 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 sizes to get a 4% difference. It guess it does matter where you start...

Oh well, it really doesn't matter, as I said the speedo should be on target now, but I'll check with gps.... but I'll still leave it the way it is.

As for the ET's, tirerack shows ET as low as 32 working - BBS LM-R's when I checked it out. E90post calculator shows 3mm more clearance on the strut side with ET 34 and the wheel sits perfect with the wheelwell (it's pushed out 15-16mm in front, and 19 mm rear).

Have a better day.

Have a happy independence day mjfloyd1,

This Forum is for anyone with a fine E60 car.

Reading it, one can avoid mistakes with wrong parts etc. but also learn a lot.

I'm a OEM guy with a vast BMW background (see my sign).

I believe that ones E60 should be in given specs to avoid future problems.
And the car will failure in the long run, if one tunes its car too much and wrongly.

No hard feelings I hope.

Yours Sincerely,
Ricracing

Dude,

Alpina must be an abomination for you - they use, gasp , xi springs with 245/45/18 tires on "i" vehicles in their conversions. Please call them and tell them the error of their ways
