Just bought an 2007 550i Sport. Been lurking around the forum a bit, but now that I'll have the E60 in my driveway next week, I thought I'd get some advice. Car is recently off-lease, so tires are worn. I believe 550i Sport has 18" rims which look ok to me.

Anybody have good recommendation for tires that won't run me crazy money, but are good balance between road noise, comfort of ride, and performance? I know the PS2s seem to be the gold standard but I was hoping something less expensive might give me same benefits. Also I'd hope to put on a set that has good treadwear. PS2s definately don't do that. I have UHP Exclaims on my E46 M3 and they seem to do fairly well on that car.

Second thought I had is if I'm spending close to a grand on new tires, should I just go ahead and do wheels also? Are there good wheels+tire combo suggestions that would be fairly economical? How much would my existing wheels fetch?

As a side note - I paid $36.5k (before tax) for the car, 2007 550i Sport w/ 25k miles on it. Good deal?

I believe the 550i comes with 18" 124 wheels (same wheels I have). As far price for those, I wouldn't set it too high as the tires are bad and you are only selling the wheels. There are a few sets already for sale in the classified section. Depending on where you live you could those wheels for a winter set-up.

As fas as tires go, members have used tirerack.com to find some good deals on tires...

As far as wheel upgrade/change, way too many to mention..I would suggest browsing thru the member galleries and parts, mods, accessories section to look at wheel styles you like first. The classified section also provides some nice wheel deals/upgrades so keep checking. We also have some pretty good vendors here on the forum that others can vouch for. Take your time and research it well....

GL and hope everything with you upcoming acquisition goes well...

What pions does your car have and miles? Where do you live.

As for wheels and tires, depends what look you are trying to achieve. I will also be selling my 124s w/bridgestone runflats possibly or may hold on to them for winter tire usage.

I priced 19" staggered setup on the Kumho Ecstas from Tirerack and came out at $670 before shipping. 18s should be cheaper. I suspect the UHPs are fine, but you can do ( a tad bit) better without breaking the bank...

Options - Sport Package, Nav, Comfort Access, Logic7, Sat radio. Has 25k miles on it.

I'm probably just looking for something that looks sporty with Jet Black, but doesn't look too chrome or bling. Cost is the other factor, i really don't want to drop a lot of $$$.

Yes, IMO it's a good deal - what is the production date of your car? '07's were shipped from mid '06. And did you buy it thru a BMW dealer and is it "BMW Certified"? If it's still under the maintenance program you might want to shop for a BMW extended maintenance package. The list price for a 550 should be less than $2K - even brake jobs up to 6 yrs and 100K miles is covered.

Add this to your shopping list, esp with the 18" sport package - wheel and tire insurance! Don't leave home without it

Probably not CPO. If it were CPO, wouldn't the dealer have put new tires on if they were worn?

I was looking at an 05 545i with 14k miles, the dealer replaced all 4 tires and wheels becuase of curb rash and tire wear.
