You live in San Diego and want to run all season tires? Seriously?

Frankly, all season tires are a compromise tire - they aren't particularly good at anything. Don't rob your fantastic 550i of its performance capabilities - get some high-performance summer tires. Summer rubber will handle sharper, corner better, and most importantly - stop faster.

Yes, there is a tread wear trade-off ... but that's the point: your car stays on the road instead of in a ditch because it leaves more rubber on the road surface. That's a good thing.

As far as Bridgestone versus Michelin - check the tire weights. I've found that Bridgestones tend to weigh a lot more - robbing you of performance.

There is a really interesting affordable summer tire test in Car & Driver this month:

1. Dunlop Star Spec
2. Hankook Ventus V12 EVO
3. Kuhmo Ecsta XS

I'd go for the Hankooks as they weigh a lot less than the Dunlops.
