Nice choice, the PS2 are great tires.

Any of you guys use chalk or shoepolish to check your inflation pressures?

I have used chalk:

Make a mark across the tread from edge to edge with chalk. Roll a few rotations.

Even wear across chalk = proper inflation
More chalk worn in center = overinflation
More chalk worn on edges = underinflation

I haven't used shoe polish.

That works for if you plan on just driving for daily transportation. If you plan on driving in a more sporty manner, the procedure is a bit different:

You only really need to chalk the edge, about 2" on the outside of the tread out to about 2" down the sidewall. Drive around a bit and corner as aggressively as you ever plan to. You should wear the chalk off right to the "break" at the top of the shoulder. If you go past this point and down the sidewall a bit, you're underinflated. If you don't reach this point, you're overinflated.

This is given, of course, you have proper alignment settings.

+1 About 85-90% of my driving in this car is daily transportation. As I alluded to earlier, I adjust the pressure depending on the situation--say an all-highway road trip vs. a little side-road getaway with twisties. I have a compressor, so it's no biggie. I used a variation of the approach you mention when I was autocrossing my 911.

About 60% of my driving is probably too fast, though I am slowing down in my old age. Of course, with my tires lasting about 5000 miles, it doesn't matter too much.

Congrats amit1947,

Great choice of tires!

Notice that new tires need a break in period for some 300 miles, when you should drive easy.

Just fill the tire pressures to the max (see the door or the drivers manual) and reset the iDrive!

If they feel too hard lower the pressure a bit (and reset the iDrive again).

Woops, I've driven it a little hard before the first 300 miles are up I'll try to go a little easier now.
