I was thinking gee what a great company . . . except they have probably known these tires were garbage for months and they should have recalled them instead of waiting until we complain load enough.

I'm happy, but because BMW and Goodyear/Dunlop are replacing the tires, I feel like I'm stuck with what they give my (a new set of Dunlop RF's) ... so, when (not if) the new set begin to make noice, I will get BMW to replace them with another brand. But for now, a new set of tires after each summer is not that bad (as long as I'm not paying for them).

My dealer just call me today to let me know that BMW Canada and Goodyear/Dunlop will be replacing my Dunlop RF's with a new set at no cost to me! They made the right decision!

Well, that's the GOOD news. The BAD news is that you'll get more of the same thing and can look forward to a repeat problem.

Ideally, we should be able to cut a deal with Dunlop or whomever, to have a high-grade NON-RF tire as a replacement, but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

Unfortunately, my car has just barely 2200 miles on it, so I have all this ahead of me yet. With my luck, and running winter tires, the replacement program will have expired by the time I "need" it. But my goal would be Non-RFs anyway. so I may just roll with the punches.

Cheers,
Ray Hull

In was build in April 2005, so yes, I do have the new redesigned Dunlops, but the same problem exists with the new Dunlops as with the old Dunlops ... the redesign has not fixed the problem in my opinion!

That's why I'm asking if anyone else has the new Dunlops with the same problem as the old ones (and if BMW/Dunlop has replaced them for free?)

BMW NA replaced my tires; however, they put old dunlops (new; however, 2 years old) in the fronts and new ones on the rears. After 5500 miles, the noise is back! It sucks to pay $65k for a car and they can not get the tires right!

Last, I agree that BMW should pay, we did not select/reward Dunlop to supply the tires for BMW!

Why don't you just tell BMW to put non-RF tires on?

It would be cheaper, and you wouldn't have these same problems every year.

I have a new 05 545 sport (so Dunlop RF 18" summers), with only 14,500 km on the tire, and they are making lots of noise and even vibrate a little. They have all the same issues that everyone else is experiencing (wearing on the inside, etc).

BMW checked my tire presure, alignment, and everything is good.

They opened a PUMA case for my tires (assuming that because a Service Bulletin on the tires exist, should be easy to get this problem resolved).

NOPE, Goodyear/Dunlop says they fixed their Dunlop RF as per BMW recommendations, so they tires are not the problem, its my BMW, so they won't pay to replace my tires. BMW says there is nothing wrong with my car, and that Goodyear/Dunlop should stand behind their product and replace them at their cost.

WTF! I'm stuck between to companies blaming each other for the problem, and neither willing to pay to resolve my issues!

I believe the new Dunlop RFs have the same problem as the old Dunlop RFs, but no one is willing to fix my problem.

Put my winters on today, so now I have around 5 months to try to get either company to resolve this issue before its time to put my summer tires on (which I hope will be new tires).

Am I the only one experiencing this push back from both BMW and Goodyear/Dunlop?
Usually, I tend to stand up for BMW and dealers, but I am amazed that BMW would allow its customers to be put in this position. Some (at least ipse d as I recall and Maybe Rudy) have indicated that at least part of the tire-wear issue is a problem with the way BMW's are set from the factory (too much toe-in???). Mabye BMW is not willing to be responsible for setting cars for the utilmate driving experience, but not for the ultimate tire experience. I certainly don't know, but informed opinions would be appreciated.

Hi !

New to this great forum. Just got my new car. Has Good Year F1 fitted on the
18?M rims.
Anyone had problems with these? Can I put regular high speed tyres on the
RFT rims?

Yes, not the other way around... (There's an extra ridge to keep the tyre on the rim better when the pressure is lost)

I have the new design/compound on my Dunlop RF's with 10,000+ miles on them and have no problems what so ever other than the ride is harder than regular tires but part of that might be do to the sport suspension.
cheers
