I don't know whats wrong with my stick shifter but it requires three attempts to finally put it in the reverse mode.

Any thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Synchronize the transmission by putting it in first gear and then into reverse.

I do this also on my 2002. With the clutch depressed, lean the shifter towards the first gate and then go into reverse. Seems to have less wear and tear on the synchros. You shouldn't have to do this for today's manual trannies. Something's not right.

Is juventus is talking about the new electronic shifter?

katheikia and E1142860 are both talking about a manual transmission...

Can you describe in more detail what you're doing and what's happening?

When I press the button on the side of the shifter and try to put it into reverse, it kind of resists. Usually on the third attempt it moves into the Reverse mode. However there is absolutely no resistance in moving the shifter from R to D mode.

Is the problem only occurring when you are in the manual shift mode?

Can you even do that? I thought you could only select reverse from the right side (automatic side)...
