I'm having the new seals fitted today along with some other work - I'll report later on how 'good' they are!

Also, having CIP18.1 put on to resolve some small issues - primarily on the steptronic I hope...

They are claiming that 18.1 will fix my failed adaptive headlights - I'm not convinced, it's seems more mechanical to me!!!?

Just stopped working one evening. Green light on dial just flashes... However, they did come back a couple of times but definitely dead most of the time...

I got 18.1 a couple weeks ago.

Got the Perspective Nav... the iDrive loads faster than before.... The voice recognition takes twice as long now.... and when you turn the car on with a CD that was left muted/paused while parked, the cd starts playing but stays muted, so you lose your place on the disc.

The paperwork said 18.1 but that could well be 18.00.01...

As a matter of interest they were quite happy to code because of recall... That saved lots of 'arguments'

I have all those symptoms with 16.2. Anybody have the "official" list of fixes/enhancements for 18.1 other than LEDs for some cases?

Thanks for quick response. I think now I remember reading that and since it did not impact me (at 16.2 I got all my fixes in) I simply brushed it off. But I saved it now so I can keep track.

Also see why someone would get some apparent new symptom if they had not kept updating as u get all the cumulative fixes. For instance if subterFUSE went from pre 16.1 version to 18.xx he would get all the intermediate changes and start seeing some new things to him that others might have seen at earlier CIP upgrades. That's why it is so important to include CIP version (old and new) when stating problem, symptom or resolution to problem.

Anyway I digress, thanks again

Well, initial news seems quite good but they have replaced the inner seals and not the outer seals listed on the TSB...? I have peeled back the outer seals and there's a layer of grease underneath - perhaps they did that too...

However, as expected, 18.1 didn't fix the adaptive headlights - back again! (Motor control unit as already mentioned...)

Quick Reply: New seals today!!! (+CIP18.1)
