Default New Owner looking for thoughts so far and any future ideas

Hey everyone, so I've been a huge car enthusiast my whole life and the day I got my license I picked up a 2001 4 door VW golf 1.8t. After many transmissions and stupid cheap routes I went I've decided that with this car that i'm doing it right the first time or It wont be done which is why i'm writing this post.

I've looked at thread after thread and website after website and I don't know if i'm not looking in the right places or i'm used to my old VW forums which were so easy to use and find parts and DIY's and everything else.

any websites or advice would be great and i'm also open to everyone's opinions on a build or tasteful modifies.

It took me about two years to find but so far this is what i am starting with:

2006 530xi w/ 75k miles
Black with Black sport seats
and when i ran the VIN it looks like every option under the sun.
Blacked out Kidney Grills from BMW Performance
Blacked out LED Sidemarkers
BBS Style 101's 9x20 front and 10x20 Rear

The two things i can not figure out so far is the steering column wont move in and out or up and down and if it has the auto unlock when i grab the handle like my wifes 07 328 had. I don't know if the key fob isn't programmed correctly and could that be the cause

Pretty loaded car. 2006 530xi model had some mid-model year changes. The feature you are talking about in your wife's car is called Comfort Access. That was available as an option starting in September 2005 builds. If you have a real key, you don't have this for sure. Having the rectangular key fob is required and then you also need the CAS option in addition. Another mid-year change was was flat tire monitoring using the rolling diameter of the 4 wheels changing over to actual tire air pressure measurement. If you have rubber value stems, you have the older FTM that uses the wheel rotation to decide what one tire has an issue.

Steering column could be a fuse? See the fuse map in the trunk lid.

I have a June build 2006 530xi and still love the car.

I do have a Key fob not a key as well as the FTM. The style 101's have rubber value stems but the stock 18's that came on the car i do not know. i don't believe the CAS option was listed so that makes sense. why that would be the only thing the car doesn't have i don't know.

Also i check for a fuse diagram and it was not in there. I searched online and checked every fuse that should up but it seems there was multiple diagrams and i'm not sure if its just the wrong one.

What i found so far was the key when programmed, releases the lock of the column when inserted which brought the question of whether or not it was because they said the fuse will make the seat not move as well as the steering wheel heater but they both work.
