My dealer gave me a 2010 3 series loaner today. The iDrive blew me away. It totally kills the old clunkier CD based version. Better graphics, much faster, nicer maps, markedly improved user interface, and much more usable nav system.
Almost makes me want to get a new car!

Its not the physical upgrade thats the prob, its the hours of programming required from BMW that takes the longest to process. I keep asking my dealer for a quote, but they never get back to me...

Quick question, does anyone know if the CIC system from an LCI will be compatible with the pre-LCI e60?

The programming is actually very simple. Its just that BMW Germany wont let the dealers do the programming. Any shop with Autologic can do the programming. The big issue is getting the FSC codes, which theres only one person out there that has the contacts to generate the FSC codes for our cars.

You can read more about it here.

Here's the guy you need for the fsc codes.

A buddy of mine has done it on his 2005 5er and he's totally happy about it. It's an extremely easy mod, if you got spare 2k euro or so.

I will probably pass on this, I'd rather eventually buy a newer car in a year or so.

Is he a member on the forums? I would like to ask him a few questions.
