I posted a while back that I was having problems with not being able to get more than a gallon or so of gas into the car without having the nozzle click off. This was the case even on the slowest setting. Because this was my 3rd E60 I knew the problem was unique to my vehicle in that I hadn?t experienced anything similar with the other two cars (in other words I knew it wasn't the angle of the nozzle or something I was doing wrong).

Long story short I finally got around to taking the car in for service and remedy turns out to be a whole new tank. About a week to a week and-a-half to get the tank in and another day or so to install it.

In the meantime I?m driving around in my loaner a ?lovely? Pontiac GP Wide Track somethingorother. The kid at rental shop told me to watch out because ?it was fast? I just smiled, thanked him?and took the keys

I believe gas tank replacement is a new malady for the forum. Don't know whether to congratulate or sympathize. Please accept both.

Thanks I think I remember reading one other post where someone here had a tank replaced...funny thing is at first they told me that they thought they would just need to replace a "canister"...but they then sent an e-mail to BMW seeking further direction...at that point I had little doubt the next step would be a whole new tank...and sure enough the call came the next day. Doesn't really bother me much...I'm burning cheap gas and driving the hell out of this rental...and just when I get board with abusing my loaner...it will be time to crawl back in the 545...and after having been away from it for a week or two it'll be great fun getting used to it all over again. You know it's the whole "absence makes the heart grow fonder thing."

I'm having the same problem and same solution with scheduled tank replacement next week. What's the deal?
