Yesterday I accidentally hit my Voice button on my steering wheel and the male voice response came on! Almost scared me out of the car!! I said 'help' and it recited a list of phonebook dialing options I could say. I have coupled and frequently use my Treo 650 with my 530i for a few months now.

I do NOT have any voice activated options in my car. But I think the last software update I went in for (v15.2) turn on this feature for me. Now I can dial my Treo my just saying the numbers or by names in my phonebook! Wow!

I hope that 16.2 or later doesn't take this away now!

Anyone else notice this new capability? Again, I do NOT have voice command for anything else (like radio, heat, etc). Nor do I have NAV.

You're lucky!!! I've heard stories before of people that were able to use their phone options with voicerecognition.

For my car it never worked!

My US2005 530i without nav has voicecommand available....sw ver 13.2 I believe. Works great. I've also triained about 20 saved names that also work very well. I also use the treo 650 to connect, from Sprint.

Yes, my non-NAV has limited voice commands - it's part of the phone system. But, you do have to rerecord your voice dials - they won't come over from the phone to the car.

The voice command sounds nice but how did you get the treo 650 to work? I can't get mine to do anything and I down loaded the Palm carkit, had the bluetooth software installed by BMW and have 16.2 v software.

Hi,

I had it on my 2004 525d (no NAV, only bluetooth GSM) and it worked with German voice commands. It comes with the bluetooth option.

I noticed with others with almost the same setup that they didnot have it. Strange! So it's not a new feature in new software versions, but apparantly something you (the dealer) can "easily" switch on/off with software.

It worked like a charm despite the German lady....
A friend of mine has a new 320d with full dutch voice commands and menu's, so they have it available.......

I have Cingular today, but am switching to Sprint over the weekend, because of a company issue. I hope my Spring works as well as my Cingular has.... I really like the Treo 650 alot. Seems like there is nothing it can't do.

I followed the details here on the forum to pair them and it worked immediately. Really never had a problem.... but I'm still on 15.2. I hope my Sprint 650 will work as well as my Cingular has 'til now.
