I think the reflector is ugly and I've not seen it in Europe. The turn signal is still in the main headlamp assembly.
Yes, I agree. You won't see it in Europe because the pre-LCI Euro spec has the clear headlamp assembly. I don't think the LCI Euro spec has the reflector either. It's a US thing.

edit: xBMXx beat me to the post, but I can add for those that don't know the acronym "DOT" it's our US Dept of Transportation.

...no more SMG, and 2 new automatics - the sport auto is the faster shifting option with paddle shifters)...
In my understanding there is only one new auto box, the difference for the sport auto being the paddle shifters and maybe(??) some software.

Great to read that you are enjoying your 550i sport. Welcome aboard.

As far as minor mods ... yes, change the air filter and while you are at it, make sure the charcoal filter has been removed too. Otherwise, the popular mods are not minor: wheels, exhaust, springs, high-flow throttle body, software tuning).
member tachyon has already covered the mods. other than a supercharger, many have said that what you would feel the most gain is from a differential upgrade, 2nd would be an ecu remap i think. so welcome. enjoy the forums and continue enjoying your 550

IMHO ECU remaps give the biggest gains to cars with turbos.

Welcome,

Where are you and your baby beast located?

I just put a K&N in yesterday seems to have a slight change in sound and response.

So far with my different items the Dinan software provided the best gains. Increased redline, MUCH better throttle response, a few hp/tq and now have the ability to travel over 155mph.

true, if only the 550 had one, or the prior e60s to the LCI 535s. as for the k&n, there have been different feedbacks about it. for sure though, its better than the stock paper filter allowing more air flow.

I am in Iowa. I have been considering a Dinan software change, but I was wondering if it is very noticable even without the throttle body upgrade? Also, is there a place I can get this software installed near CedarRapids, Iowa?

Closest Dinan shop would be in Madison WI.
