I recently ordered a 530i, which according to the owners circle has already been built. It is waiting transportation to the US. I read about the new engine (R6) which will be out in march. Will the designations change ie 530 to 535 for example?

I'm pretty sure it'll keep the 530 sign.

There's rumours of a 3 litre turbo to hit the 3 series... When/If that arrives in the 5 it would be the 535i I'm sure the 530i will remain as is.

In a year's time the line up will probably be:

523i (detuned 2.5)
525i
530i
535i (6 cyl turbo)
540i (v8)
550i (v8)
M5 (v10)

525d
530d
535d (sequential dual-turbo)
540d (M5d? Well maybe not... )

Welcome to the forum, surgeon! With the new engine, it will still remain as 530i. Just like other models with the new engine.. 630ci and 330i.

I reckon the 330 Turbo (to fit between the 330i and the new M3) may well be badged as 330Ti.

That's possible... The Xi's are coming too... How about a 530XTi?

welcome surgeon

IrishEyes, there has been talk of a 3.5 turbo possibly making a 335Ti, but it may be diesel

Welcome aboard, surgeon !

The 520 becomes a 523, but the 530 remains 530.

I posted the new pricelists for Germany in this thread.
