Dealer called me today to tell me my car is ready for collection - picking it up Tuesday next week as its the earliest I can get there (dealer is other side of the country unfortunately) - really impressed, only placed the order on the 9th September, and was originally told week before Christmas.

Really excited now, this is my first BMW, replacing a VW Passat. It's "only" a 520d, but still feels big deal to me. I've found this forum really helpful in learning, planning and choose my new car so thanks everyone!

My first E60 was a 525d with very little spec and it was fantastic. So good that my next car was a 530d and my one after that a 535d. From the outside they all look (almost) identical and it is a beast of a car even in smaller engine variants. Best of luck with the collection - how come it's from a dealer on the other side of the country .... drivethedeal.com or similar website?

What colour combination have you gone for, and any gadgets? It's a good idea to update your signature with details of the car, that way any questions you post will get a good accurate answer (depending on who replies of course, if it's me, ignore it!).

It's 520d SE, Saphire Black - Black Fusion Upholstery, Black High-Gloss Trim - so very black, bit of an experiement, but it looked nice on ththe configurator. Sports steering wheel (just thought it looked nicer) DAB Radio, USB/Ipod Adaptor, Lumbar+Heated Seats, Bluetooth Telephone prep + cradle for a Nokia 6300 - Oh, and not the default alloys, slightly different, can't quite remember the model number, but I preferred the look.

Black on black on black looks awesome on an E60, especially Sapphire. First E60 was black (jet black) but I'm too lazy to keep it clean. If I wasn't, I'd have another black one heated seats, USB and Bluetooth - probably just about the most important options in my eyes. You'll love it Are you getting manual or auto...?

 

Ah yeah, manual, auto had too bad effect on the emissions, and thus the tax paid. Auto would have been nice actually, seem to spend a lot of time sitting in traffic these days, but I'll live.
